This is a Travel Specific version of my other blog -
aladnsane.
I graduated from University of Washington in 2006, and have been eager to get back on the road ever since. I traveled every year from 2001-2005, spending time living in Spain, France, Germany, China, and Japan, and completing a 60 day overland tour from Paris to Tokyo. From January of '06 until September of '07, I was stuck in one place - and I built up quite a case of wanderlust. This Journal will record the results of that.
In mid September, I begin a 40 day bike ride from Vancouver, BC, to Tijuana Mexico. Upon arriving, I will work in Mexico for about two months, travel Central and South America for about two months, and then settle again briefly in Chile, where I will spend two months working, and arranging the next step of my trip. From Chile, I plan to catch a Boat to New Zealand, departing some time around early May. I would then arrive in New Zealand in mid June, and from there continue by boat, spending June, July, and much of August traveling through Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, to arrive in Thailand, where I will connect with a friend of mine who is doing Peace Corps there. After Thailand, I will continue to China, where I will travel until the Olympics blow over - likely visiting the 7 remaining holy Mountains that I have yet to climb - and will then settle in Beijing, a city I am familiar with, for a couple of months while I seek out work in Japan. I will teach English in Japan for the calendar year of 2009, after which I have tentative plans to travel through the Arab Nations with a friend - a fellow American Jew, which should be interesting - before starting Grad School or Law School in fall of 2010.
That about sums up the purpose of this journal, but there is one more thing to add - whether I like it or not, this is an expensive and ambitious journey - any assistance is always appreciated. Thank you for any help you may offer, and I wish you all the best.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
